About Me

I believe in the inherent advocacy of human-centered design, and have a deep love for learning from and with users! I ground inspiration in pragmatism, lead with questions, balance systems thinking with focus on detail, and bring stories and numbers together.

I seek out new experiences and love being reminded of beauty in unlikely places and unexpected times—the banner image on this page is from my family’s road trip stop in Morrow Bay, while stretching weary legs near the end of a month of travelling. My lifelong passions include reading, playing the violin, training in karate, singing, and crafting. I am also on a constant hunt for new noodle dishes (as long as they are vegetarian)—the spicier, the better!

Passing it On

It is so gratifying to have 1:1 mentoring conversations with young women entering the UX field. I have also given presentations on the importance of good UX practice to both colleagues and early-career UX professionals.

Watch my presentation at the Seattle chapter of Ladies that UX, all about what I wish I had known when transitioning from academia to industry at the start of my career (starts 13:27).

Lifelong Learning

I have been a student of Hayashi-Ha Shito-Ryu Karate since I was four years old, and I continue to learn tenacity, discipline, and confidence from years of practice under my masters.

Watch me perform kata in the Women's Under-35 Black Belt Division at the Annual Hayashi-Ha Shito-Ryu International Karate Championship.
